Province offers support for Calif. firefighters

On Jan. 14, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) offered a Birddog aircraft, 3,000 feet of hose and 10 firefighters to help fight the wildfires in California through a request for assistance from the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre (CIFFC). The SPSA is waiting for a response from CIFFC regarding next steps in deploying these resources. The SPSA provides support to other jurisdictions when a request is made through one of the agency’s established mutual agreements or partnerships. Established in 2017, the SPSA is a Treasury Board Crown Corporation responsible for emergency management, Sask911, SaskAlert, the Civic Addressing Registry, wildfire management and fire safety.
