OPEN DOOR SOCIETY
The Saskatoon Open Door Society was established in 1980 as a safe place to welcome and assist refugees and immigrants new to Saskatoon.
This allows for newcomers to Canada to become informed about their new country, while also involving the Saskatoon community in their hospitable reception and acceptance. Due to the Open Door Society’s efforts, Saskatoon has become a city that recognizes that there is only one relevant race – the human race – and that opportunity should be equal to all of its members.
The centre provides several services, including language training and daycare, settlement and family services, and translation services. The society relies on volunteers to run several programs including mentoring, conversation circles and special events. If you are interested in other cultures, meeting newcomers and would like to volunteer, join us and make a difference.
Call 306-653- 4464 to find out how to get involved. The Open Door Society is located at 100-129 Third Ave. North. The daycare centre is at 247 First Ave North. For more information, visit its website — www.sods.sk.ca — or call 306-653-4464.
